A Clinical Evaluation on the prophylactic effect of TIENAM(r) against postoperative infection after open heart surgery

Abstract
|
|
|
A comparative study for the prophylactic effect of TIENAM was performed on 20 patients receiving cardiac valve replacement.
There were statistical differences in leukocyte counts between control group and experimental (TIENAM using) group, especially on the operative day and on the fifth postoperative day.
In experimental group, leukocyte count returned to normal range within three days after operation however, it remained out of normal range even beyond the fifth postoperative day in control group.
There was no statistical significance in renal function study(BUN, Cr.) between two groups.
There was no significant clinical side effects relating to TIENAM, except for a mild, transient erythema around the injection site.
